Our world can be difficult to keep up with, too much to swallow at the worst of times. It's become a constantly shifting social and technological landscape, uptake and upgrade where people and their machines are left behind; condemned to nostalgia. This series explores social discontent catalysed by the new media, urban development and an insulating society. The photographs dare to evoke isolation, critical anxiety and alien suspicion. This is investigated through ambiguous subjects, abstract forms, foreign environments and the marriage of analogue and digital photography.
Shot entirely on medium format film and "scanned" using a digital camera, Ambitions Are probes the relationship between contemporary technologies, their descendants and the photographic process. Once complex processes being overly simplified, this ever occurring and almost immediate supplant drives our world towards science fiction, an uncomfortable limbo where the story never ends.
